Protecting Vulnerable Children

Health professionals working together to keep children safe.

This free online education resource has been a collaborative effort between the Department of Health, Vulnerable Children in Acute Health Project, the Victorian Forensic Paediatric Medical Service and e3Learning.

This education course aims to provide you with the skills and information that will assist you in the important role that you play in making sure that children's health, wellbeing and safety are protected. It will provide you with information about identifying and responding to cases where you may suspect that child abuse or neglect has occurred.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of the Protecting Vulnerable Children course, you will be able to:

  • Better identify vulnerable children
  • Better respond to situations where abuse or neglect are suspected
  • Better understand the child protection service system

Course Content

This course is divided into three modules which will be completed consecutively. You can return to the modules at any time for further information.

  • What is my role?

Estimated Duration

The course should take between 30 and 45 minutes to complete.

Target Audience

This course is designed for all staff working in a healthcare setting in Victoria.
